Posted 9 months ago what color should fire trucks be. Our co. colors are crimson and gold when it came time to repaint our ladder truck the higher up (trustees) said that theese colors are a low visibilty factor and because of that we need to paint it (ugly) green and white. Tell me what you think |

| Posted 9 months ago All the studies done by manufactors and some fire departments say that slime lime is the color...........me personally believe that all fire trucks should be red...........sorry to those that don't like that. Truckie 83 at least they didn't pick the ugly orange that 6-3 has..........sorry 6-3. I know some companies do a red and white color scheme or like 6-7 they do black over red or 5-4 does yellow or 2-11 rescue is white (the famous Dragon Wagon) I personally hope your company doesn't change the color, but that is just my opinion. |

| Posted 9 months ago truckie83 said: I think you should tell them(trustees) they were right about the low visibilty thing and have researched that hot pink is far more visible than lime green. BS, tell them you want to stick with your tradition. If rubbernecker joe cant see those bright ass lights then what would make them think they would see the lime green? |

| Posted 9 months ago Naber414 said: I agree, if people can't see those revolving flashing lights then they shouldn't even be on the road driving. Stick with your company colors.........if you are orange, yellow, white, blue or whatever already then why change??? |

| Posted 9 months ago I feel that what ever color you want, go ahead and paint it that way. To many companys loosing their history fighting over what color the trucks should be. |

| Posted 9 months ago BillDougy said: Here's my post from that thread..... I had a cool little rhyme on here. After I read it, I decided it sounded kind of morbid so I removed it. Red is tradition. Green (or safety yellow) has been proven to be more easily seen. Green is different and sometimes different is cool. Personally, I just like fire trucks. I don’t care if they are purple with pink polka dots….or paisely…..or striped. The largest room is the room for self improvement |

| Posted 9 months ago Chapel Hill fire department in North carolina has light blue fire trucks. They did this because there is a pretty major college in the town with the light blue color as their official color. The college is linked up with a pretty big hospital that also uses the light blue as their official color. This hospital donated a fire truck to the department that was light blue and all the trucks since have been light blue. I t is actually pretty neat to see the blue fire trucks on a call. |

| Posted 9 months ago Color does not truly matter anymore. NFPA & other orgs have made great innovations with lights. So, I say, 'light 'em up! Its the warning lights that people see. I went through the 'slime green' thing myself. It's enough to make you puke. The prettiest color scheme I've seen is the white over red (native to the D.C., Md, area). |

| Posted 9 months ago I agree with the light argument, the more the better. If you're talking about visibility, if somebody isn't paying enough attention to the lights, it doesn't matter what color the truck is they are going to run into you anyway. Most of our calls are late night MVA's when color really isn't going to be a determining factor. The public needs to learn that if they see a lot of red lights that might be a hint that they need to SLOW DOWN!!!! |

| Posted 9 months ago Stay with the colors you have... we have enough broken traditions in this country. |

| Posted 9 months ago Puke green stands out in the daylight, but studies have also proven that it does not show up well under certain kinds of street lights. I think it's those funky almost beige/orange looking ones. After the new paint jobs our EMS rigs got, i'm thinking maybe red and yellow mix would be good. See the EMS rig in my pics. Most of the bigger cities are going back to the Chevron type arrows on the rear, kinda like they use in England, or what you see on some highway trucks. It supposedly works. Jeff Draper

| Posted 8 months ago We are totally confused. Eng 1 is lime green, Eng 2 is red with white cab roof, Eng 3 is white with red stripe. At least all our medic rigs are the same color, white with orange stripe.
