personal Injuries   A good group to check out for help is CISM.  They can direct you to help in dealing with such a wreck.

Aren't all injuries personal?   Do you mean personnel, as in fellow FF's?

Good question, but personal injury makes more sense.  Personnel injury would infer that it was a member of the responding dept or organization involved in the accident.

personal-  of, pertaining to, or coming as from a particular person; individual; private.

personnel- a body of persons employed in an organization or place of work.

infer- to derive by reasoning; conclude or judge from premises or evidence.

All I know is that when "PI"  is used by our dispatch , in a call ,  then an ambulance would be sent and medical attention possibly rendered. This also helps us know how bad the wreck may be.    A head on or roll over as opposed to a fender bender.

Copy!  Yea when we get an MVA call in western Colorado, dispatch usually states Injury accident, Non Injury Accident, or unknown if injury accident.  "Unknown" because the general public love's their cell phones but don't like to stop and see if their are any injuries.

PI...refers to Personal Injury Accident...... PI's get police AND medical responses...

opposed to a :

PD or PDA....PROPERTY damage accident......no injury...police only response...

Guess I was way off.  I was thinking PI was Pin In since we were talking about MVA's.  Never heard of Personal Injury.............
