Posted about 1 month ago Hey guys! Are any of your departments doing anything for halloween? I know some of them around here like to set up haunted houses and other stuff. My department never really gets into that stuff. We participate in the local parade and all that, but nothing that is purely the fire departments. What do you guys have planned? |

| Posted about 1 month ago we hand out candy, hot cider, fire prevention materials for the kids and this year will be giving out glow sticks as a safety measure to all of the kids that stop by the station, plastic fire helmets and tours of the engine if they want it. We've been doing this for years and thekids love it. democracy, not theocracy, not now, not ever |

| Posted about 1 month ago My department along with area residents runs a Haunted Spook Trail Hay-rack Ride as a fund raiser for our department. The Trail usually makes $10,000 a year. It is a lot of fun! The trail is a bout 6 miles long with program areas every 100 yards or so. Eddie D. Howard

| Posted about 1 month ago That is the kind of thing that I would love to get started with my department. Not necessarily for the money, but for the fun and the communtiy involveness. It is great to keep a strong bond between your department and the community that you serve. I am most definately gonna try to set something like this up in my department, whether it takes 2 or 3 years or happens next year, these are the kind of things thatdepartments should do in their off time. Plus, it is really great to have all of the volunteers pull together to accomplish something like this, it's a really good team building event. |

| Posted about 1 month ago We hand out candy every year, but this year some of us are helping out with a local haunted house. The last department I was on we used to set up a hauunted house in my garage (small one of course) along with the yard and do that. Since the dept. did not want to be liable so some of us just got together and did it. BE SAFE. GO IN ALIVE, COME OUT THE SAME.

| Posted about 1 month ago That's great! I love to hear how all of your departments are staying involved inside your communities. Never take public relations for granted. Staying in good standing can not only help you out in a sticky situation, but it can also help you shine even brighter when your department does well. If anyone here ever has any fundraising questions, please make a new post/discussion and ask your friends here what they know about the subject. With the way this group is growing someone is sure to have experience in the subject! That also brings back what I keep telling everyone, please invite all of your friends, you can't get help/advice from people that don't know that your looking for it! The more people involved in this group, the better the stories we'll hear, and the greater the range of advice and experience for us all to indulge into! Have a great weekend and stay safe!!! |

| Posted about 1 month ago I know some of the volley houses in my area do haunted hay rides through out the month of October. They are very successful and help raise money to support there organizations throughout the year. Ive been a few times and they do a great job. Its always a good time getting together with some friends tying one on and getting on a haunted hay ride. |

| Posted about 1 month ago We hand candy out infront of our station and also walk the streets to make sure everything is okay. We use to do a haunted station, but stopped a few years ago. I think it would be nice to back into that. It was fun. I'ts not our mistakes that define us...it's what we do afterwards. |
