I HAVE A LARGE PLASTIC BIN WITH DISASTER/SURVIVAL SUPPLIES IN A CLOSET UNDER THE STAIRS OF MY HOUSE.  IT IS PORTABLE ENOUGH THAT I CAN LOAD IT IN OUR SUV IF WE NEED TO "BUG OUT" OF THE HOUSE IN MOMENTS NOTICE.

IT CONTAINS-

BLANKETS, FLASHLIGHTS, GLOW STICKS, WEATHER RADIO, SMALL AM/FM RADIO,10 MRE'S, CASE OF WATER,  KNIVES, SMALL SAW, HAMMER, CROW BAR, WATER FILTER, TWO FULLY LOADED AIR FORCE SURVIVAL VESTS(MINUS UHF RADIO), TWO MED BACK PACKS, DUCT TAPE, LARGE 1ST AID KIT, WORK GLOVES, FLINT FIRE STARTER, FEMA EMERGENCY MANUALS, MAPS OF THE STATE AND COUNTY, A CHANGE OF CLOTHES FOR THE FAMILY, HOME/FINANCE RECORDS, SPARE KEYS TO HOUSE AND VEHICLES, LOT OF BATTERIES , COLORING BOOKS/GAMES FOR THE KIDS AND ALOT MORE STUFF WHICH I CAN REMEMBER WITHOUT LOOKING IN THE BIN.

I INSPECT IT EVERY OTHER MONTH AND ROTATE THE BATTERIES AND WATER.

I have alot of the same stuff in mine.  Like the scouts say "be prepaired".  My wife gives me a hard time about wasting alot of mony putting it together and that I am always buying batteries or flashlight.  I figure if/when something ever happens I'll get the last laugh having been ready.

I am so totally embarassed to say...We have Nothing ready.  Even after our town came close to burning down a few months ago....Nothing.  If there is anything that goes wrong we all end up at the FD.  I am making food and drinks and getting it to the FF and Sam is watching FF kids younger than himself.

Heaven forbid anything ever happen to the FD, we would really be in big time dodo.

In the event of a house fire we all know the plan of what to and not to do and where to meet.

In the event of an attack we have a plan for what to and not to do and where to meet.

I have a drawing of what I want to be  put into place in our torado room and we all know where we would go in the event of a tornado (the room under the kithchen.)  There are blankets down there, but my son keeps eating the MRE's and My daughter drinks the water faster than we can replace it even if we hide it she just drinks it and because it has been hidden we don't know its gone until we go to rotate it.

I dream of being as efficient as iwant2fly (but I am the smallest person in the house and they scare me (?))
