Hey guys,

I'm going to be a senior in high school this year, and that means filling out a lot of college applications.  Here's where I'm running into a problem, I know I want to do career firefighting, but I can't decide if I want to stay close to home and attend a college in Connecticut, Rohde Island (etc.) , or if I should go out to Maryland, and Virginia and do a live-in program with a college.  Any sujestions?

Gaston/ Charlotte area has a program also. I encourage getting 50 miles from home to become your own person and not a product of a father or a  chief of your home department.

Eden Fire Company in Lancaster County is also looking for live ins.  The best live in program hands down is Progress Fire Company in Dauphin County PA.  They spend a week training in late summer for the new live ins and you will get tons of action fire, rescue and EMS.  They are close to Interstate 81 and Harrisburg City.  They average 650-700 or better runs a year with 25-30 jobs.
