Posted 4 months ago companies i have run with in the past, and more recently, the co. i currently run with, now requires the members to make a certain percentage of meetings, calls, and drills. if they do not meet these requirements, they do not get the right to vote. i would like to push it a bit further and have them lose the right to ride a truck. training to me, is more important than politics. most percentages i have seen run anywhere from 25% and as high as 50% in some jurisdictions in my county. hope this gives soome insight. i personally prefer the 25% stat. which is also included in co. functions ( breakfasts, carnivals, sta. cleanups). it is hard to make more than what we already do with jobs and family.

Posted 4 months ago This year, we are enacting a pay for performance thing which will pay department members for their certifications. We will use the 50% rule. 50% of calls and 50% of meetings. The largest room is the room for self improvement

Posted 4 months ago We require 50 % attendance for our trainings. We have 2 a month, but I can tell you not everyone meets it. We give a certificate for attendance at our Christmas Party- still not incentive enough to enough for some to make it

Posted 4 months ago Some of our trainings are mandatory, depending on the type of training. The only bad thing is we don't have much people who show up to trainings. It's funny to see people you never see at trainings show up at a fire and never at a single training. And I'm supposed to rely on these guys. I dont think so! My pholosphy is: if you don't go to trainings then stay our of a fire scene, because you're not going in with me. "Hell, these are Marines. Men like them held Guadalcanal and took Iwo Jima. Bagdad ain't shit." "Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they made a difference in the world. But, the Marines don't have that problem." United States Marine Corps

Posted 4 months ago our training is mandatory to an extent you have to attend so many trainings to be able to vote at business meetings we have a decent turnout for training but its tuff for the volunteers they keep putting more stuff you have to have to go on calls that makes it tuff on the volunteer to juggle his job, home life and fire dept life but our members do a decent job of it i do believe in training over and over the more you train the smoother the call goes when its the real thing it will come as second nature to you
