Rest In Peace fellow brother. Your short time on this earth was not warranted and for it to be taken away by the cowardly act of a roadside bomb was inexplicable. Wherever you may be in Heaven know that terrorist has been caught and will be dealt with swiftly on earth as he will in his brief visit to heaven. You crossed our path on the way to your base and our words and smiles here were some of the last you saw before you departed this hellish God Forsaken country. You gave the ultimate sacrifice for your country and you are in our prayers as well as your family and friends.  God Bless you and may you find peace in Heaven. Watch over the rest of us Brother, be our guardian Angel and keep the rest of us in your eyes safe.

Thank you Grendel, it kind of saddens me that after looking at some of the other posts and what this website is about that people are not showing the true brotherhood of who we are, whether civilian, military or otherwise. This was a fine young man who I only had a couple words with for a few brief moments just hours before he departed on his convoy and his life was taken away. Americans and Free People around the world need to realize that the freedom they have is not free, NEVER FORGET 9/11, NEVER FORGET THE AMERICANS THAT LOST THEIR LIVES BECAUSE OF THE FREEDOM WE ALL SHARE. The military/civilians around the world that have united over here to stamp out terrorism must never be forgotten, as well as those who innocently were taken away for someone else's ridiculous beliefs.

Sorry for venting.....Thanks to all of you who do what you do.

I just wanted to say thanks to those of you who have responded to this posting. I only met him briefly, but he had a wonderful smile, and I always say you can see the heart of a person in their smile. My condolences to the Family and the Fire Department and friends.

Justin was an amazing person who would help anyone who needed it. He just wanted to do his part and took the chance. Left everyone he loved for a year to make a better life and do his part. He believed in what we fight for. I love you baby. Those damn ragheads will pay for what they did.

Bahafire said it best, freedom is not free... My father was a Marine in Viet Nam, was wounded twice, sprayed with agent orange and died of lung/pancreatic Ca at the age of 53. I watched as the cancer ravaged his body  and even at the moment before he took his last breath, he was proud of his country and said he would do it all over again just to make sure we had our freedom..He had no regrets....My brother is a Gulf War veteran and served his country for 4 years..God bless our brothers and sisters who put thier lives on the line everyday and endure unimaginable conditions and sacrifices just so we can feel safe to walk outside and breathe the free air....I'm sure Justin is watching over all of his friends and family. and I truly believe that we will all be together again...Rest in peace Brother.

May he rest in peace. Thoughts and prayers to his family.

I would like to take a second to thank all of our brave military men and women who give their lives every day for our freedoms. Sadly, our "freedoms" come at a very high price. You are right Bahafire...Maybe freedom isn't the word we should use. The costs are very great and families are torn apart. Though, I am not sure what word to use in its place.

TO ALL MILITARY, ACTIVE AND RETIRED:

God bless you all.  Thank you all for serving our country and protecting what is right and just.  No matter where you are serving or have served, thoughts and prayers are with you. Take care and as always, stay safe.

I was shocked when I heard about ,Justin , his engine company and ours met up together, to get to know each other better, it was Justin's last shift before he left .We were getting to know each others trucks for when we would call them for assistance or when they would call us .  I hope Justin's family get's through this Great loss of a great firefighter and  great person .." We miss you Brother ."
