FF SAR

Posted 4 months ago Most of everyone in my company took the Firefighter Safety and Survival course. We recently had A firefighter down scenero that we did in a abonded home that we get to use for trainings. We used some basic tactics, but we got to use some that involved using Thermal Imaging Camera (TIC). This is a great tool to look for down firefighters or people. I was amazed to the effectiveness of this device. How many of you use this device in your depts and what else would you use it for? "Hell, these are Marines. Men like them held Guadalcanal and took Iwo Jima. Bagdad ain't shit." "Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they made a difference in the world. But, the Marines don't have that problem." United States Marine Corps |

| Posted 4 months ago We have two TIC's, one on each engine and we use them for SAR as well. However, they also come in handy when looking for hot-spots when doing overhaul, or trying to find a heat source when we get a "smell of smoke" in a residence. It will show a hot ballast in a fluorescent light, or an abnormally hot motor in an AC system. Great tool! Ross Caston

| Posted 4 months ago It will also show a patient who has been ejected from a vehicle, in the middle of a field. And it will show people hiding from you in the bushes. Both are good night time uses. The largest room is the room for self improvement |

| Posted 4 months ago tsmith1 I have never heard of using it for someone who has been ejected from a MVC. That's a great idea! I'm glad you mentioned that! "Hell, these are Marines.
